Having worked in the business community for the past 25 years, I have had the pleasure of communicating with many different types of people from many different walks of life; some of whom I’ve “met” only through their writing. Though we don’t like to admit it, we all make judgments about others; whether it’s their manners, their sense of style, or their ability (or lack thereof) to spell.
What I realized was that some of the most brilliant people in our communities are some of the poorest writers. They can’t spell, never punctuate, and misuse and mutilate the English language on a regular basis.
Sometimes, I would think they must have been in a hurry, which made me feel unimportant. Other times, I thought their mistakes were due to laziness, which made me feel unworthy of their best efforts. On some occasions (depending on my mood), I might think the writer was less than intelligent, which, of course, made me feel superior.
Most of the time, the people writing to me weren’t any of those things. And neither was I. But their writing misrepresented them so completely that they became unrecognizable as the intelligent, thoughtful, successful people they had always been.
Their writing mistakes turned them into Miss Understood writing to Miss Comprehended.
That is the basis for this business. Our mission is to help you avoid becoming Miss Understood, by improving your writing.
